This means less capital expenditure and depreciation expense resulting from longer equipment life, better performance and lower maintenance cost. The payoff Compress Shield will reduce energy consumption of your cooling equipment by 10% to 30% or more, depending on the age and condition of your system. The bulk of the saving will occur immediately upon installation, with full efficiency occurring within in two weeks. Cost The average payback of the installation expense in 12 to 18 operating months. In general, equipment that is 3 years old or older represent candidates for Compress Shield treatment. WHAT ABOUT COSTS? The most effective way to answer this question is by “return on investment” since the cost is determined by the type of equipment and its size. The beauty of this product is truly in the older equipment and therefore the greater the stagnant oil film buildup, and therefore the better it works. WHERE CAN COMPRESS SHIELD™ BE USED?Compress Shield™ can be used in virtually any equipment that cools. It also works extremely well in heat pumps. It can be used in ammonia and centrifugal chillers, and has been extremely effective in ice machines. ARE THERE ANY NEGATIVES? In all the years this product has been tested and used, no equipment failures have been experienced. The FEMP report quotes a letter from the Carrier Corporation to one manufacturer, dated March 1989, which stated, “At this time, Carrier knows of no negative effects (of Compress Shield™) on the reliability of Carrier Compressors.” The FEMP report goes on to state, “However, the Carrier Corporation did state that Carrier cannot be responsible for the behavior of any post-market additives added to their compressors.” It should be noted that the Magnusson-Moss Consumer Product Warranty Act of 1992 stipulates that “manufacturers may not void a warranty if a third-party lubricant is added unless that equipment manufacturer can demonstrate that the lubricant caused harm to the equipment.” Compress Shield™, Inc. carries adequate liability insurance to cover the possibility of any problems caused by the addition of Compress Shield™ to any system.
